Restaurants
One of the (many) reasons that we fell in love with this area was the array
of international flavors available in local restaurants. Here are some
of our favorites right in Ojochal (just moments away from La Casa de Tierra):
Exotica – French-owned and blending flavors from France to Asia to Africa. Lucy, the hostess, is one of the most lovely, charming people around, and the food has always been consistently divine. She also does rich, fabulous desserts.
French Boulangerie (bakery) – Do you believe it? In the jungle in Costa Rica? This man makes wonderful French baguettes, breads, croissants, and other goodies.
Jardin Tortuga – The German owner, Stefan, makes the best wood-fired pizza and lasagna we’ve ever tasted, no joke. For Lisa to say this (she normally doesn’t eat these items) means it’s really special. Below the terrace of the restaurant is a pond with crocs in it!
The Lookout or Lily’s Pad – This is a lovely,
elegant spot for a sunset meal or cocktail. Located up on a hill,
it is
a beautiful setting with fabulous views of the ocean. They have
imported a
gourmet chef from the
San Francisco Bay
Area and have an interesting menu.
Soluna – Also a bed and breakfast, this casual restaurant, run by a French Canadian couple named
Michelle and Leo, has great hamburgers and fries and a variety of other tasty bites.
Villas Gaia – This restaurant/bar is attached to a hotel. Nice setting, international menu, good drinks
(especially Edgar’s fresh pina colada).
In addition, there are numerous Costa Rican restaurants in the vicinity which all offer a very similar
selection of Costa Rican fare.
